Sailing Serenity

A last shot of model sailboats out on the Lake – our subject for this past week. This scene of serenity shows two of the boats out on the water for a final sail. You can see Kings Avenue Bridge and the National Carillon in the background.

A more abstract shot - these model sailboats can fly once the wind picks up!

Bowen Park - model sailboats

In the first photo above, we see the small jetty at Bowen Park where enthusiasts launch their model boats. This shot also gives you an idea of the scale of the models. They race the boats, of course, using a hand held remote control unit; and in the second shot you can see in action the same model the owner is retrieving in the first shot.

It's the middle of winter here in the nation's capital. Not quite the season for water sports - unless you're into model sail boat racing.
